Bernadette passed away after a long fight against breast cancer. She came to my studio for the purpose of feeling beautiful and to be remembered that way. The photo shoot was deeply moving and I feel it is by far the most important work I’ve done as an artist to date. My makeup artist, Melanie, and I were in tears when Bernadette left that hot August afternoon, knowing she had very little time left to live. I am privileged and honored to document women with breast cancer and will continue this project for many years to come with the hope for a cure.
If you would like to see the collection of portraits of other women I have photographed that have survived breast cancer, please click here. Unfortunately until there is a cure, I will continue to shoot women that have gone through breast cancer. If you or someone you know has gone through breast cancer and would like their portrait done, I am offering complimentary shoots throughout the year and prepping for my show in October, 2013. Please call my studio at 203-792-9977 to schedule a shoot.
If you would like to make a donation to help those with cancer, Ann’s Place, The Home of I Can, is a non-profit organization that provides comfort and support to people living with cancer and their loved ones. To donate, please click on this link:
