Oh wow…spring is in the air alright! This is the time of year I’m thinking size 6 and how to make that happen by bikini time. Why do we wait until March to get rid of the holiday cookie fat? Sigh. There is something about the word “diet” (ouch!!) that hurts–writing it, seeing it, saying it and, even worse, doing it! Yuck, it feels like torture being on one. I mean, I love food, don’t you?
Well, I have to tell you about a book I just picked up called “Change Your Brain, Change Your Body” by Daniel G. Amen, M.D. Check it out: http://www.amazon.com/Change-Your-Brain-Body-Always/dp/0307463575/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1268228733&sr=1-1 Dr. Amen talks about the importance of making a mental shift in the way we think about our health. It’s a Lifestyle shift. It’s about eating healthy, getting enough rest, and exercising. These things can all be incorporated into our daily habits. I work hard to maintain a healthy Lifestyle. But if I slip and indulge in a hot fudge sundae, so be it. I go right back to my foundation–that healthy Lifestyle. And I don’t regard this healthy Lifestyle as a black and white deal, either. There is a grey area….OMG…did I just write that? My friends are laughing now…..me? Grey area? Ha! No seriously…. Truth is, self love is not as easy as it sounds and simply loving yourself takes work, patience, forgiveness, time…and maybe 1 cookie instead of 3. Thanks for the minute! xo
